Context

Sir William Fry Reserve is locked in Cheltenham near Westfield southland, it is a significant community resource which provides opportunities for real place-based learning. The reserve includes wetlands, native vegetation, open grass areas, accessible walking paths open to everyone, play equipment and even includes a working bee program. This program is a fantastic program that allows students to understand their environment and the impact bees have. During my visit to Sir William reserve, I observed key features including the wetlands, bridges and native plant. While observing these I started to create a link on how they can support year 4 students learning about ecosystems, sustainability and how natural and built environments coexist within a suburban setting. This reserve has accessible and diverse natural elements, this therefore makes it an engaging and meaningful learning environment for year 4 students.
